Petrosains tells the story of the science and technology of the petroleum industry, using a fun and interactive approach.
Petrosains contracted Magian to design and produce the updateable Hot Science exhibit located at the entrance to Petrosains. Located in the Petronas Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Petrosains is a science center for younger visitors. Hot Science is designed to encourage teenagers and young adults to learn about the latest in current science.
The technical infrastructure is networked to allow staff to constantly update the content. Magian's MMaPS software system allows for easy updating of content and other interactive features on the various touchscreens in the exhibit. MMaPS is also used to manage the content on the Hot Science section of the Petrosains website.
Staff develop content for Hot Science programs using text, images, animations and video. The topic for the Science Presentation program, which is the most in-depth source of information, is changed regularly.
In the Opinion Stations kiosk visitors are able to record their opinions about various scientific topics. Using either an on-screen keyboard or a video camera visitors at seated consoles are invited to express their own opinions about current science.
The Cool Tech touchscreen provides constantly changing information about interesting new technologies and at the Voting Stations visitors can express their opinions by voting on current science issues that are updated regularly. Visitors can compare their registered vote on scientific issues to the votes that have been entered by other visitors on touchscreens as well as from the Hot Science website.
