Magian was appointed to design and implement the media for the Mesozoic Media Center at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana.
This Media Center is located between two major paleontology galleries at the Museum and it provides visitors with a wonderful way to access information about the scientific research being carried out at Montana State University.
Magian was responsible for designing the technical infrastructure, specifying all hardware and producing the programs and software to drive the Media Center. Magian's MMaP System was used to enable the functionality of all the media programs within the Center. MMaPS also allows staff to make changes to the content of any of the programs to keep abreast of on-going research.
Visitors to the Museum can access rich digital resources by using touchscreens incorporating an extensive range of activities including interpretive games, direct access to the Museum's paleontology database and a growing library of videos detailing the University's on-going research programs. Visitors can also email relevant downloads to themselves from touchscreen stations.
Images from the Museum's histology collection are also displayed both to show off the beauty of these slides and to provide information about their importance as scientific data. The Mesozoic Media Center also has an on-going program of live video presentations linking to field research sites and partner research institutions at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, and the Darwin Center in London, UK.
