Magian designed and produced over thirty programs for a renewal program in the Aquarium at The Scientific Center, Kuwait. The Scientific Center’s interpretive plan delivers content about three ecosystems – The Desert, The Coastal Edge and The Sea. We designed screen interfaces for each of these zones.
The Desert gallery interface references the colours of the desert as do the interfaces for the Coastal Edge and Sea galleries. We designed approximately eight separate types of media programs to deliver digital content to visitors. Magian also provided staff with the capacity to make media presentations for guided tours and school groups using iPod Touch devices for control and management. Staff are able to interrupt the exhibit mode programs using the wireless handhelds to deliver specific videos as
part of live presentations. These presentations can be either spontaneous or programmed.
Amongst the programs we produced are the Flyover Kuwait Programs which allow visitors to 'fly' to key natural locations in Kuwait using Google Earth software. Located at the entrance to the Aquarium these programs help both local and tourists to understand Kuwait’s fascinating natural environments.
Adjacent to these programs are display cases which interpret the lives of the people of Kuwait through artefacts supported by information on three touchscreen programs that drive much larger screens delivering video from within the display cases.
In addition electronic species identification programs, each located beside the enclosures and tanks, provide rich content that not only satisfies the need for basic identifying information but also information amongst other things, about habitat and conservation . These programs are supported by 46” touchscreens mounted in portrait mode which provide visitors with an overview of the three ecosystems interpreted at The Scientific Center Kuwait.
As a separate interface design Magian also produced programs located in the Scientific Center’s Discovery Place Resource Center Programs for younger visitors which provide playful ways to learn about science.
