This Museum presents the history of the NYK shipping company. The company’s history provides a parallel to the development of Japanese shipping since contact between Japan and the rest of the world in the nineteenth century. The exhibits were designed by the Japanese exhibit design company Total Media, and the video was produced by Media Circus, a Japanese video production company.
Magian designed the technical infrastructure and worked with Total Media to create the media programs including the touchscreen programs and soundscapes.
There are nine multi-screen video programs activated by floor pads and twenty touchscreen programs providing detailed information. Items in the collection are presented and described using text, images, video and animations.
Magian’s MMaP System was installed to operate all of the media programs in the exhibits. The MMaPS Content Manager enables the updating of all program content. New media items can be added by Museum staff as the exhibits are further developed.
Magian produced the soundscapes which are all operated using the Magian DiAC System.
