Museum of the Rockies
Mesozoic Media Centre

Magian was appointed to design and implement the media for the Mesozoic Media Center at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana.  This Media Center is located between two major paleontology galleries at the Museum and it provides visitors with a powerful resource.

Magian was responsible for designing the technical infrastructure, specifying all hardware and producing the programs and software to drive the Media Center.  Magian’s MMaP System was used to enable the functionality of all the media programs within the Center. The System also allows staff to make changes to the content of any of the programs.

Visitors to the Museum can access rich digital resources by using touchscreens incorporating an extensive range of activities including interpretive games, access to the Museum's paleontology database and a growing library of videos detailing the Museum's on-going research programs. Visitors can also email relevant downloads to themselves from the stations.

Images from the Museum's histology collection are also accessible in a way that both shows the beauty of these slides and provides information about their importance as scientific data. The Mesozoic Media Center also has an on-going program of live video presentations linking to field research sites and partner research institutions at the Smithsonian in DC, and the Darwin Center in London, UK.
