Kindercity Berlin
Children's Museum

Magian produced several touchscreen interactive programs for this new children's museum in Berlin. The programs are bi-lingual in German and in English and are installed in a number of exhibits including The Animals, The Forest and The Cave.

For The Cave Exhibit, Magian created two programs, one about dinosaurs and the other about marine reptiles. Both programs illustrate these creatures through video and animated games. We also developed an experiential program where children are able to "dig" for dinosaur fossils using their hands to "brush away the sand" on a touchscreen.Visitors discover fossil fragments which then animate to show the dinosaur in its entirety.

For The Forest Exhibit, Magian developed two programs for younger children that show various animal behaviors and adaptations. These include ways in which animals move and also how they camouflage themselves in the wild, either to hide from predators or when hunting their prey. In each case four animal behaviors are illustrated through animations. We also produced a program through which children are able to select and listen to a range of environmental recordings, both natural and man-made, from around the world.

For The Animals Exhibit, Magian developed two programs, each of which provides children with information about animals from a range of habitats. These are playfully introduced through fanciful images of a composite "animal" based on large 3D models where a single creature is created from the parts of two or three real animals.
