American Museum of Natural History
Hall of Planet Earth & Science Bulletins

Magian worked with Ralph Appelbaum Associates of New York, on the technical and creative design of the media for the Hall of Planet Earth, a gallery about the geology of the Earth, at the American Museum of Natural History.

Magian was then contracted by AMNH to create and produce the touchscreen kiosks and the associated websites for two exhibits, Earth Bulletins in the Hall of Planet Earth and Astro Bulletins in the Rose Center Hall of the Universe.

These innovative exhibits are each central to the respective galleries. Earth Bulletins and Astro Bulletins provide visitors to the Museum and to the Museum’s website with current, topical and changing scientific information.

The stories are updated and renewed by staff. Earth Bulletins contains stories about recent geological events: volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and atmospheric activity. Astro Bulletins contains stories about the latest research and activity in the fields of astrophysics, astronomy and space travel.

The Science Bulletins are implemented using the Magian MMaP System. This allows for the simultaneous publication of high-resolution multimedia content to the touchscreens in the two galleries and the same content at low-resolution to two websites. The American Association of Museums awarded the Museum a Silver MUSE Award in 2002 for the Astro Bulletins programs.
