Australian Electoral Commission
Education Center

Australian citizens are required by law to vote.  The Australian Electoral Commission offers educational programs about democracy and electoral processes to school children and adults. Magian designed the AEC

Educational Center located in Melbourne.

The exhibits feature colorful, life-size human silhouettes and these make a strong reference to the nature of democracy.  The exhibits have historic components as well as information about current electoral processes.

School group visits start with a lesson from teaching staff in one of the two theater spaces. A Resource Center provides a location for in-depth study.

Magian was responsible for the design of all aspects of the Center.  These included:

  • the architectural design of the interior space
  • the complete exhibit design
  • a multimedia theater program
  • interactive touchscreen programs
  • soundscapes for the exhibits
  • interactive mechanical exhibits
  • a visitor Resource Center
  • all graphics and image identification for the Center
  • educational publications and branding
